It was an experience that made me realize how important this industry is."

Alex Panaite, a young landscape engineer from Iași, Romania, successfully turned his passion for technology into a promising career in IT, becoming a Python Developer. Driven by the desire to grow in a dynamic and future-oriented field, Alex chose to take the Python course at IT School, where he found a clear and accessible structure for beginners. Initially, programming seemed like a challenge, but with dedication and his mentor’s support, Alex learned to create complex solutions. Just a few months after completing the course, he secured a job where he now applies the knowledge and skills developed during the training.

Tell us more about yourself. 🙂 What field were you working in before IT School, and what was your role?

My name is Alex, and I started my career as a landscape engineer.

What motivated you to switch careers to IT?

I was driven by the desire to work in a field that is essential for the future, offers continuous challenges, and allows for constant learning and development.

Did you have any prior knowledge of the technologies taught in the course, or did you do research beforehand?

I did have some knowledge of both software and hardware, gained from extensive computer use from a young age.

Why did you choose IT School?

I wanted to take a programming course to get started in the field and expand my future opportunities. I was drawn to IT School’s presentation and offerings. After a phone conversation where I received detailed information about the course, I was confident in making this decision.

How was your experience with the course?

I learned something valuable from every session. The course was excellently structured and easy to understand, even for those without a technical background. From writing a simple line of code to developing an entire script with various functionalities, the experience helped me understand how important this industry is.

Did you face any fears or challenges during the course? If so, how did you overcome them?

I wouldn't say I had fears, but I did have some doubts since I initially saw programming as a "monster" that was difficult to conquer. However, with the help of the trainer and a lot of hard work, it eventually became as easy as a child's play.

How were the career guidance sessions at IT School?

The career guidance sessions covered all the necessary information and tips for preparing for a job interview in the field, including technical thinking and essential tips & tricks. One particularly valuable aspect was the guidance on the CV creation.

What key lesson did you take away from your trainer?

With hard work, dedication, and seriousness, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

How long did it take after completing the course to get a job?

Approximately six months.

What is your current role, and what does your job involve?

Currently, I work as a Design Engineer for Public Utilities. It is a design-related job that also incorporates programming in certain tasks. I use Dynamo, a Python-based scripting tool that helps automate design processes.

What do you enjoy most about your new job/industry?

I appreciate the efforts to integrate programming into engineering tasks, the flexible work schedule, and the company’s emphasis on well-being and health & safety.

What’s next for you? What new goals do you want to achieve?

I aim to further develop both my personal and technical skills, particularly in programming.

What advice would you give to those considering a career change but unsure of how to take the first step?

Start by exploring the fields that interest you and look for ways to determine if they are a good fit for you. Connect with professionals in those industries to gain insights into the challenges and opportunities and to receive direct advice.
